Bergen - Måløy

Join this trip to experience a coastal/fjord cruise that includes a stopover in Balestrand, with its spectacular terrain of mountains and fjords, and culminates in the coastal village of Måløy. Arrive a day early to see Norway’s famous “second city” of Bergen.

Departure Day

This stage takes you from Bergen, Norway’s “second city” and along the west coast to the fishing village of Måløy, with a stopover in the fjord village of Balestrand along the way.

After departure, we sail through a series of immaculate archipelagos while you settle into the unique rhythm of life at sea with your co-sailor colleagues.

And why not arrive a day before departure to explore Bergen, known for its long history of international sea trade. Norway’s “second city” and busiest port, it is now an international hub for shipping, aquaculture, the offshore industry and subsea technology. Surrounded by islands and mountains, Bergen is also a World Heritage site.

Day 2

We then head inland through the mighty, 204-kilometre-long Sognefjord passing idyllic villages, ancient farmsteads, and lush fruit orchards, before dropping anchor at Balestrand. This village is located amidst a dramatic and beautiful fjord landscape that National Geographic Traveller magazine has called “the world’s most iconic destination”. Balestrand is also an ideal base for a hike up to Keipen, with its spectacular bird’s-eye view of steep mountains, Sognefjord and the ocean.

Arrival Day

The final leg of the voyage takes us northward to the peaceful town of Måløy on the island of Vågsøy. Norway’s most important fishing port. Måløy is surrounded by mountains and lighthouses, has a beautiful silver sand beach and is close to the famous Kannesteinen rock, molded by the sea into a spectacular mushroom-like shape.

We go into quay after breakfast tuesday morning, enough time to explore the place. You can join in on Coasteering or yoga at the beautiful Refvik beach, these tours must be prebooked. Fishing is important in Måløy and we invite you to go fishing. Later that day we plan to prepare food together. There are hiking trails from the city Center into the island. Måløy has a Second World War history center and there is a fishing museum in town. Visit the "Kaibutikken" on the quay.
